In Memoriam – Bruno Agostinelli Jr.
Bruno Agostinelli Jr. was a humble, quiet gentleman. His Niagara Academy of Tennis coaches remember him as having great talent and determination at a very young age.
On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, Bruno sadly died in a motorcycle accident, in Toronto, at the age of 28.
A native of Niagara Falls, Bruno was one of the first student-athletes when Niagara Academy of Tennis started in 1997 and continued to train with his Niagara Academy coaches during his secondary school studies. He obtained a scholarship to the University of Kentucky where he is still considered to be one of the greatest tennis players in University of Kentucky history. He was named the University’s male athlete of the year in 2009 when he reached No. 2 in NCAA singles rankings. Cedric Kauffman, head tennis coach at the University of Kentucky said, “Bruno was not only one of the best student-athletes we’ve ever had at UK, but he was the most caring, respectful and hardworking person I have ever met. He was kind and humble and he became one of my closest friends after his playing years.”
After University, Bruno became a national coach for U14 players at Tennis Canada’s national junior training program in Toronto. Tennis Canada reports that Bruno was a leader, teacher and confidante to many of the country’s promising junior players. Kelly Murumets, president and CEO for Tennis Canada said in a statement, “Bruno was simply a terrific person. Humble about his accomplishments, caring and kind towards his players, and passionate about his job, his life and his family. This is a truly devastating loss.”

Bruno will be forever remembered as an accomplished and dedicated player and coach, as well as a kind and caring human being.
