Learning how to hit the ball is the most important part of the game. Niagara Academy players work on the key components of groundstrokes, volleys, serves and returns. Players develop their ability to hit the ball with accuracy, speed, consistency. Hitting each ball with the appropriate spin, direction and angle is a continuing process, helped by our coaches’ monitoring and feedback.
Footwork is also an important component of technical training. Moving forward, backward, laterally and diagonally, as well as using the legs for power, are all significant parts of the Academy development program.
Eventually, with the help of the coaches, each player will develop strong weapons to challenge an opponent. Ultimately, each player should develop his/her own game-style to suit his/her strengths in competition.
